The Scope & Requirements
- East Coast Australia Launch: Partnered with the business owners as principal technology architect, designing a scalable infrastructure template to support a refreshed retail brand and an aggressive rollout across major shopping centres.
- Architect Collaboration: Worked directly with design architects to align every equipment location, data rack, and lighting layout with the brand's colours, look, and feel.
- Stakeholder & Trade Coordination: Project managed the entire deployment — the central point of contact between business owners, centre management, builders, and specialist trades — to guarantee a seamless, integrated shop fit-out.
Architecture & Infrastructure Design
- Concealed Cabling: Engineered the spatial pathways and coordinated on-site electrical trades so all concealed cabling conformed strictly to ACMA structured cabling standards.
- Food Safety Compliance: Every terminal and data infrastructure space was designed to meet FSANZ Food Safety Standard 3.2.3 and AS 4674, eliminating contamination risk in customer-facing zones.
- IT System Specification: Designed the hardware blueprint for POS terminals, digital displays, printers, store communications cabinets, and high-capacity long-range wireless access points.
- Enterprise Firewall & Gateway: Specified a rack-mounted enterprise gateway firewall as the core security layer, with threat management protocols mapped out before rollout.
- Continuous Power: Engineered a high-availability backup power layer, including a commercial-grade UPS in the main communications cabinet to protect operations from grid fluctuations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Specified a UPS maintenance bypass switch and electrical hardware conforming to SAA Approvals and RCM guidelines, enabling future servicing with zero downtime.
Technology Governance & Outcome
- Network Segmentation: Directed provisioning across the network core, isolating POS terminals, guest Wi-Fi, and smart product scales onto separate, secured virtual networks.
- Turnkey Handover: Supervised final data line testing and system calibration, and coordinated onboarding so the team could manage everything from a single app.
